Farrah & Clayton's Mechanics Hall Wedding

4.19.2012

On Saturday, April 14th, I had the honor of being the Day-of Coordinator for Farrah and Clayton's wedding held at the Mechanics Hall in Worcester, MA. If you've never been to Mechanics Hall, it is a concert hall with a 19th century elegance feel and the space is just breathtaking! The beautiful sunny day started with Farrah getting her hair and make-up done in the Green Room by one of my favorite artist, Noel McKinnon of Make Up 2 Die 4. Shortly after, Farrah got dress in her custom made, Sari and met Clayton on stage for their first look. The back drop created by Shagun Decorators was just amazing. Strings of crystals were hung on the pedestals with floating candles and red rose petals covering the top beam. Cristina of Cristina G Photography, a highly reputable photographer from Chicago capture the entire day perfectly!

That would be on the right helping our Bride with her shoes :)

Afterward, the entire bridal party took off in a limo provided by Metrowest Limousine and headed to WPI, the Higgins House on campus for more portraits. The ceremony took place on the stage of the Great Hall right before sunset and the room felt so romantic and intimate with votive candles surrounding the stage. Extreme Productions did a great job lighting the stage red and that really completed the look of the room. My favorite part of the ceremony is seeing both cultures, Pakistan and American combined into one. Also, I really loved watching Farrah and Clayton reading their vows to one another, so sweet!

Following the ceremony, cocktail hour was held in the Washburn Hall with live music provided by Amherst Ensemble. Caterer, Kabob and Curry provided the delicious Indian cuisine for both cocktail and dinner.

The Great Hall was transformed into the reception space during cocktail hour and Toupins Catering did an amazing job getting all the tables and chairs set up within an hour. A Beautiful Bouquet created the high and low floral centerpieces which paired with the champagne linens and the chiavari chairs provided by Gala LDT. For dinner, guests were treated to a delicious buffet with many different options even I couldn't believe it. But the dessert won my little heart. The wedding cake from Konditor Meister had 5 layers and 4 different flavors; pina colada, black forest, strawberry grand marnier and lemon raspberry. The cake was massive and so delicious! Guest also got to enjoy the photo booth by Red Eye Photobooth and Deejay Bunty, MC Mike and their entire Extreme Productions team really got the party started. All the guests were on the dance floor the whole night!

As for the guest favors, I created a custom red and gold candy station with 7 different types of candies; cherry gummy bears, twizzlers, red foiled chocolate balls, strawberry candy crystals,  butter toffee chocolate, almond hersey kisses and m&m's. (Couple of my favorite wholesale candy companies online are Candy Warehouse and Metro Candy). I used a gold linen to cover the table and placed boxes underneath to give the jars height. I finished off the candy buffet by placing candles all around the table.

Farrah and Clayton, have a wonderful time in Italy for your honeymoon! Thank you both so much for allowing me to take part of your wedding day. I sincerely feel I've gained two new friends after meeting the both of you. Also, thank you Joan and the entire Mechanics Hall team along with my two assistants, Tim and Phil for the wonderful job well done!

Sweet Planning!

Russell & Joel's Turner Hill Mansion Wedding

3.05.2012

On Saturday, January 14th, I was the Day-of Coordinator for Russell and Joel’s perfect winter wedding held at the Turner Hill Mansion in Ipswich, MA. I was excited to coordinate this wedding for several reasons; it was my first wedding of 2012, the weather was absolute perfection and Russell and Joel were Lemon Drop Team’s first same-sex clients

The day started with Russell and Joel getting ready at the Chamber Room and the super talented, Shang of Shang Chen Photography was there to capture the moments. I love working with Shang because she’s so gifted and just a genuine human being. Shang took R+J around the mansion for some one on one photos and the bridal party and families joined afterward. Turner Hill is one of my favorite venues to coordinate because the mansion has so much character. Also, Carol the Director of Sales & Event at Turner Hill and the staff are just superb to work with.

The ceremony took place in the Alabaster Room and the entire room was filled with love for these two people. Musician, Thomas Wible and his team provided the ceremony and cocktail hour music. My favorite part of the ceremony was when Russell’s sister, Katherine did a reading from the book,  The Velveteen Rabbit . Joel and Russell chose this reading because it was one Russell’s father’s favorite book and sadly he's no longer with us.
After the ceremony, Russell and Joel were left alone for a private moment in the Chamber Room with just the two of them. No photographers, no family just R+J. Meanwhile, guests were invited to the library for cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres catered by Vinwood Caters. A photo booth provided by Shutter Booth was also available for guests to enjoy.
When it came time for the reception, guests were escorted into the Grand Ballroom. Flowers by Darlene provided the gorgeous winter red and white centerpieces and Jenny’s Wedding Cakes created the four layer wedding cake that was to die for. Customized bobble heads of Russell and Joel were used as the cake topper and I loved the idea. After dinner, guests danced the night away with music played by DJ Mike of MCO Productions.
For the guest favors, Russell and Joel hired me to create a custom candy station with some of their favorite childhood candies. Russell’s favorite candy was the Giant Lemon Heads while Joel preferred the Gummy Worms Yuling Designs created the tags for the sweet table and they turned out perfect! Yuling really captured the  old fashion candy  vision I had for R + J.
Russell and Joel, it was such a pleasure to have met the both of you. I wish you nothing but happiness and you guys are truly amazing together. Also, a big thanks to my assistant, Allie.
Sweet Planning!
